The purpose of the NORD international scientific conference is to enable the academia, research, and corporate entities to boost the potential of the “Networking, Observing, Rethinking & Disrupting” environments, by providing a forum for exchange of ideas, research outcomes, business case and technical achievements.
The central theme of NORD2 was
”COLLABORATION IN COMPLEX SYSTEMS”
– Fusion between Arts, Theology, Engineering, Management & Social Sciences.
The conference was particularly focused, but not limited to the following panels:

În deschiderea Conferinței distinsul Prezidiu a adresat mesajele de Bun venit auditoriului, după cum urmează:
Domnul Prof. univ. dr. ing. Ioan Bondrea, rectorul Universității Lucian Blaga din Sibiu, a transmis mesajul de deschidere, a urat gânduri bune și succes participanțiolor la lucrările Conferinței. Dânsul a punctat importanța organizării unor evenimente de acest tip în rândul comunității și a subliniat importanța universității în cadrul Sibiului, un oraș tradițional universitar, marcat totodată de importante realizări actuale.
Domnul Ovidiu-Ioan Sitterli, Prefect al județului Sibiu, în discursul său, a punctat importanța colaborării instituționale în cadrul comunității și a invitat participanții să descopere Sibiul ca pe un oraș unic.
Preot, Conferenţiar Dr. Constantin NECULA, din cadrul Facultății de Teologie a susținut o prelegere sub tematica ”Parohia ca societate deschisă”. În tot dramatismul definirilor moderne ale funcției sociale a vieții cotidiene, uităm adesea de organizațiile umane de bază care au creat coeziunea socială supraviețuitoare în istorie. Un soi de anevrism de memorie ne împiedică se redescoperim acele structuri comunicaționale care au creat adevărata comunitate umană, care au generat-o eliberată de ideologii și fanatisme, care au concrescut-o în rețeaua soacială modernă. Parohia, umilă comunitate socială bazată pe mărturisirea aceleiași credințe și întinderea unei geografii date, a fost batjocorită, eludată și deformată informal. Ea rămâne însă una dintre marile minuni ale sociologiei organizației sociale, una dintre categoriile comunicaționale conservate parcă în ciuda evoluției comunicării virtuale. Este suficient să străbați, de exemplu, benzile de autostradă ale Europei moderne, lucru valabil și în arealul britanic, pentru a constata nume de localități, cu miile, legate de cultura creștină a locului. Sfântul cutare ori plăcuțe care atestă programul liturgic al localității, puncte de marcaj ale amperajului duhovnicesc al zonei sunt tot atâtea noduri într-o rețea informală care ne dovedește că parohia rămâne una dintre categoriile de sociologie a comunicării implementată adânc în mentalitatea omului modern. Chiar dacă nu mai are aceeași conotație duhovnicească ori culturală, ea rămâne modelul societății deschise, amplasat în intervalul noilor modele, destructurate din chiar clipa afirmării lor hermeneutice.
Domnul Dr. Dan Serghie, Redactor Șef al ”Cross-Cultural Management Journal” (cu variante in limba engleza și română / franceză), ”Network Intelligence Studies” și ”SEA – Practical Application of Science” a marcat importanța proiectului NORD (Networking, Observing, Rethinking & Disrupting) aflat la a doua ediție pilot. Începând cu cea de-a treia ediție, proiectul se va dezvolta ca o platformă internațională de promovare a colaborării între cercetători cu arii de expertiză diferite. Conferința și atelierul de lucru afiliat, The Hub – Seminarul cercetătorilor și doctoranzilor, proiectat pe mai multe zile, presupun o incursiune în formele experimentale de creare a unui mediu ”lichid” în care să fuzioneze diversitatea de idei și subiecte de cercetare ale participanților.
În final, domnul Dan Serghie a a adus un omagiu colegei Corina Anamaria Ioan, Senior Editor, dispărută dintre noi în mod tragic, la numai 31 de ani.

Mircea CRICOVEAN – FINANCING SOURCES CHARACTERISTIC OF THE LOCAL AND CENTRAL RELIGIOUS UNITS BELONGING TO THE ROMANIAN PATRIARCHY
In our approach we will make reference to the financial sources specific to each ecclesiastical institution belonging to the Romanian Orthodox Church, meaning the eparchies, the cluster of parishes, the parishes and the monasteries.
The financial sources specific to the central units (B.O.R., 1979, a) are the following: state budget subsidy, income from the believers` donations to support the cult, income from the religious subunits` donations, income from the adjoining household and other economic activities specific to the eparchies.
The second part of the study focuses on the joint financing sources of the religious cult units provided by the agricultural and economical activities.
The problem of unity in diversity is a real issue that affects human relations. There are various ways in which people learn to live together in unity. The purpose of this paper is to present the principles developed by Jeremiah Burroughs (1600-1646) that should enable people to live and work together in spite of their obvious and irreducible differences. Burroughs is aware of the differences between people in all areas, from the religious ones, to the political and relational ones. However, he strongly believes that his 14 joining principles are part of a theoretical system that not only explains the importance of unity in diversity, but it also shows how to implement the principles, both for the good of an individual, as well as the good of a community. These principles are applicable to all areas of human interaction because it appeals to the essence of humanity.
Thematic dyads (permanence – becoming, experience – formalism, complex – simple, reductionism – holism, continuous – discontinuous, structural hierarchy – unit) originate in our general faculty of imagination, and they represent ideas – power, ideas – myths, which meet a compelling choice, within the prevailing paradigm, between: matter – spirit, substance – form, analysis – synthesis, mechanical – organic, determination – chance, causality – finality. Themata means here “the well-established and widespread fundamental preconceptions that cannot be simply reduced to observation or analytical calculation, or derived from them” (G. Holton). This study aims to analyze the triadic themata and their fruitful application in the “hard sciences” as well as in the soft ones. In this respect, the dynamic model of the social self seems to be very similar to the one of the Holy Trinity, demonstrating a common “pattern of thought”.
Large corporations are still an important part of today’s economic scene. Although written more than fifty years ago, The New Industrial State is still a valid perspective on corporation management, on the relation between entrepreneurs and the so called technostrucure, a term introduced by Galbraith by which he defines all the persons who participate in a group decision making. In Galbraith’s view, the power of the modern corporation has passed from the hands of the owners into the hands of the technostructure, a group which basically run the business and have different interests than that of profit making, belonging to the entrepreneurs.
The paper that we propose is an analysis on some of the fundamental issues that involve the idea of virtual community. The central idea is that such a community implies a specific vision of reality, a virtual culture that reflects upon any possibility of understanding and interpretation. It is based on a re-signification of the ways of action and interaction that determines a new kind of reality, namely augmented reality. In this context, the individual identifies more and more with their digital projections, sharing information, experience and influence in the virtual environment. The communication in the virtual community leaves the impression of total freedom, a seductive freedom that its members do not meet in the actual physical community.
Andronicus TORP – HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT & COMPANY PERFORMANCE: WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY KNOW?

- It seems that it is still not clarified HOW Human Resource Management impacts the Company Performance, not even IF it does so!
- This article is Pro-HR, the authors just considers, that it is important that the scientific basis becomes clarified.
This article examines the – presumed – link between Human Resource Management (HRM), more exactly the High Involvement Work Systems (HIWS) and Company Performance, also known as the HR-P link. It does so in a somehow historical way, showing the development of the Human Resource Management field and how the presumed link with company performance slowly, slowly emerged and became a foundation in the way people think about Human Resource Management.
In the end of the article the possibility of making Human Resource Management an objective, quantitative science, based on one of the principles of Quantum Physics;electromagnetism, isintroduced as a future study topic.
During the past twenty years, numerous multinational enterprises have entered the Romanian economy, among which a significant number of internationally renowned corporations having their headquarters in Germany. The purpose of the work is to present the core elements for implementing the Lean concept, while pointing out the potential obstacles faced by German companies when implementing Lean in their activities developing within Romania. Moreover, the paper highlights the significance of country-specific cultural features, which are further analyzed with the aim of determining their input in implementing Lean principles. The authors conclude that implementing Lean requires comprehensive understanding of the core concept, while placing local culture at the forefront of its successful implementation.
Sebastian Ion CEPTUREANU – KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IN SMES
In today’s economy, learning and knowledge have become the key factors for success and internationally and intangible resources are of vital importance. The competition between existing firms moved, largely, from tangible resources (capital, raw materials, land, machinery and equipment, etc.) to intangible elements such as knowledge and the ability to use them. Knowledge has become the basic resource companies use, how they survive, develop and finally gain competitive advantage. Generation, acquisition and use of knowledge – to name just a few of the processes of transformation of knowledge – are extremely important for many individuals, organizations, public institutions, companies, regions or states. For SMEs, this is particular relevant because they usually do not have the capabilities large companies (LSEs) have in terms of regular competition. On the other hand, prevalence of knowledge determines an increased focus of small companies toward knowledge management, once a reserved area only for LSE. This paper examines the changes and challenges for entrepreneurs of knowledge management implementation from a managerial perspective.
Literature considers that it is necessary to continuously change and improve SMES in order to be more sustainable and provide innovative products and services to the market If SMEs account for over 90% of businesses all over the world, and there is a growing need to create sustainable SMEs, then developing and implementing change is highest in making progress towards sustainability. Therefore, this article intents to demonstrate that change management processes are fundamental to create performant SMEs. This study is based on a research conducted on over 800 entrepreneurs from Romanian economy. This article demonstrates that sustainability in SMEs will be enhanced by the ability to embrace operational aspects of change management, while entrepreneurs must pay attention to long-term planning and intense communication in order to generate proactive changes. We try to demonstrate the usability of the presented findings in practice in order to contribute to the development of SMEs in Romania.
The purpose of this research work is to elaborate a data warehouse (DW) of a decision support system (DSS) using SQL Server which be able to analyze the impact of adoption by the entities the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The adoption of IFRS by the Romanian entities has become obligatory as a result of the transposition into the national legislation of the accounting regulations and norms established by the international bodies. The application aims at creating a DW of a DSS at the conceptual and logic level, intended for the entities, to enable them to make the transition to the IFRS. This DW of a DSS will envisage the following: the analysis of economic and financial indicators reflecting the financial performances of the entity before the transition to the IFRS and in compliance with the IFRS; determining the adjustments made during the reprocessing of the financial information; comparability of the indicators of the two reporting systems.
An increasing number of studies on the convergence attempted to answer the question whether the poorer economies will overtake the economies of the richer ones in time. Also, they attempted to determine whether European integration will have a positive or negative impact on the long term growth of the member countries. In such a context, any measure of inequalities between countries or regions presents great interest. The academic literature attempted a substantiation of quantitative criteria on the measurement of real economic convergence. In the first part of the study we conducted a brief review of the literature devoted to the analysis of real convergence. It also presented the research methodology of cluster analysis, followed in the second part of the study by analysis of the distance between Member EU-28 and the 19 Eurozone to highlight similarities between these states through clustering. The time frame allowed emphasizing some of the effects of the economic crisis on the degree of real convergence.
This paper presents the trend of tourist indicators in Bihor County, during the period 2007-2013, in terms of: tourist accommodation establishments; existing tourist accommodation capacity (number of availabilities); tourist accommodation capacity in service (thousands of availabilities – days); number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation establishments; number of tourists arrivals in tourist accommodation establishments; index of net use of accommodation capacity in service and the average length of stay. Based on information provided by the National Statistics Institute we have defined six tourist areas (Oradea, hydro spa area, mountain area, urban area, rural area and border area) in order to observe, which was the most developed area in terms of tourism, during 2007-2013. To this end, the average percentage of the analysed indicators was calculated, the calculation method being as follows: we divided the total of the indicator analysed in an area by the total of areas analysed (for each year separately), and then we added the indices obtained for each of the seven years and divided them by their number.
Support vector machine represents an important tool for artificial neural networks techniques including classification and prediction. It offers a solution for a wide range of different issues in which cases the traditional optimization algorithms and methods cannot be applied directly due to different constraints, including memory restrictions, hidden relationships between variables, very high volume of computations that needs to be handled. One of these issues relates to medical diagnosis, a subset of the medical field. In this paper, the SVM learning algorithm is tested on a diabetes dataset and the results obtained for training with different kernel functions are presented and analyzed in order to determine a good approach from a telemedicine perspective.
The research in accounting with specific application on capital markets represents a special resort of accounting research. The development of such studies was favored by the evolution and strong growth of capital markets in our daily contemporary life and by the extention of base accounting concepts to international level. In such circumstances, studies regarding the evolution of concepts like value relevance, efficient markets, accounting information and its dissemination, fair value, are welcomed on the field of accounting research with applicability to the capital markets. This study comes to outline some positions regarding this topic of accounting research.
The restructuring of the economy as a whole is a key factor determined by the Romanian international trade restructuring. Restructuring process contains elements that are specific to the transformation in a market economy mainly characterized by competitive spirit and by enforcement of competitive advantages.
The idea of international trade has been long debated starting with the Smith’s theory of absolute advantages ( Adam, Smith ,1908) to the perspective of the competitiveness presented by David Ricardo(2001) followed by the major paradigm change brought by Porter’s Diamond (Michael, Porter 1990). Among the determinants of international trade, especially in order to promote exports, a special importance should be given both to the companies and market’s features and to distance to the country in question, to infrastructure and to access roads. The quality of a country’s infrastructure is one of the important factors in the development of international trade relations. Depending on its quality level this factor becomes a driving force the development of which must forego the start of other economy sectors.
As reported by the specialty literature, among the multitude of economic, psychological, sociological and political variables influencing tax behavior, the level of tax knowledge or tax literacy is said to impact on compliance attitudes and decisions of potential and current taxpayers. Via an extensive literature review, the present paper pinpoints the idea that taxpayers who possess basic knowledge in matters like taxation, public goods provision, state budget structure, fiscal policy or tax laws understand the importance of taxes for financing modern societies and are more willing to honestly declare all revenues.
Ignored for centuries, communication starts to be more and more important in influencing the course of the business. This trend appears mainly because the simple act of selling is not enough, sharing products is constantly supplemented by services which enrich the seller offers, and together are highlighted by the quality of communication. During the same period, the appearance of globalization and multinational organizations makes the culture being more and more important in tranzactions. In this context, the existing connections in the business environment changes radically, management acquiring new meanings.
Data Driven Decision Support Systems are mature technologies whose effectiveness in business and management seem to be well established and uncontroversial. Under the circumstances of increased competition between universities in their attempt to better position themselves on the market of educational services, a Data Driven Decision Support System could become a powerful instrument meant to enhance all the decisions that target various aspects of the educational process. This paper is a case study conducted in a Romanian university, presenting the development of such a system, emphasizing the analytical capabilities related to student results at exams, as this topic is of interest for the users of the system.
Alexandru Lucian MIHAI – THE SPORT MARKETING MANAGEMENT MODEL
Sport marketing involves marketing fundamentals applied in one industry, the sport business industry. The development of sport marketing fundamentals is therefore based on basic marketing principles. The practice and activities of sport marketing are also based on basic marketing activities, but are modified and adapted to one industry – the sport business industry. Therefore, sport marketing is based on its primary and parent discipline – marketing.
Sport marketing is one of the most important functions of a sport business. This is because the sport marketing activities will define the business. The growth of the sport industry is phenomenal and shows no signs of slowing.
Also, sport marketing is a process. A process is a continuous cycle. Therefore, marketing is a function that never ends. The sport marketing management model is an illustration of the elements and process of sport marketing. It should serve as a guide for managing the company’s marketing functions. The model illustrates the elements of marketing, the succession of elements and functions, the process of managing, and the interdependence of the elements.
This paper presents an overview of the model, sport marketing management, each element and the process.
Abstract will be written in English. The present research, conducted in a positivist paradigm, enables the measurement of the personal brand of the candidates running for elections in certain electoral systems.
This paper analyses the value of personal brand of candidates at local elections in Romania 2012 for the Mayor chair in county residence. We provide an important instrument to evaluate the candidates for running Mayor. We have analyzed the brand value of candidates of the three most important parties. The present paper also finds the proportion of the personal brand of the candidates in the final score and makes comparisons between the brand values of the candidates for Mayor chair in 2012 and the results in the previsions local elections from 2008.
The article uses a formula to calculate personal brand of candidates developed in previous research of the author. The methodology used represents another paper of the author.
For a company, through investment activities, it is followed to either create new abilities or expand the existing abilities, the partial or complete replacement of existing technical base or its modernization. In the condition that it is desired the creation of a technical base, the investment involves the purchase of fixed capital that can materialize in: buildings, special buildings, land, vehicles, facilities, equipment, etc. In terms of expansion and modernization, investment implies the existence of a material base on which should be intervened wholly or partly by its development or modernization. For the selection of investment projects in the context of investment strategy established at enterprise level through a Financial justification and prioritization of investments this should lead to the achievement of the objectives set at its level.
The financial crisis has caused huge problems in the European financial systems, problems whose solutions often involved the use of public money. In this way the lesser evil was chosen, namely the accumulation of public debt and the emergence of possible situations of moral hazard, as opposed to the negative effects of a major economic and financial disaster. In such circumstances, the need for a new framework for financial stability, this time at an European level, similar in some respects to that of the monetary policy, is fully justified. This paper proposes a critical and applied analysis of the main changes implemented in the European framework of regulation and financial stability, in response to the recent crisis.
Once the Lean philosophy is developed and implemented to all levels in a company, a new accounting system appears: Lean accounting. Value Stream Cost Analysis is the main and the most powerful instrument of Lean accounting. Because of the fact that VSCA allows us to identify the company’s performance at the proper time, we can rapidly intervene to make the adjustments needed. The Romanian footwear industry is competitive worldwide (14th place in the top of exporters), but in order to improve, it has to rapidly react to clients’ expectations. In the case where the companies have a production system based on Lean philosophy, the implementation of VSCA does nothing but improve the obtained results. This article presents a case study of VSCA application in footwear industry.
In order to influence the decisions of the users of financial situations, the financial data concerning the commercial fund must be communicated in an opportune manner. Information like depreciation and amortization must comprise the changes from the competitive environment of the enterprise. The work aims at developing such a model for the evaluation of the opportunity of decision of the commercial fund at the level of 262 bursary titles from the emergent markets, showing that this decision is influenced by the bursary performance on a short term of the title as well as its shocks on the short term, but not by the bursary performance. The paper reveals the fact that the development of the emergent markets requires greater attention of the management for the recent events.
